Chimney Repair, Repointing & Rebuilding

Experience With Older & Heritage Homes

Long-term Solutions, Not Quick Patches

Chimney & Fireplace Construction and Repair in South Huron

Your chimney spends every season exposed to rain, snow, ice, wind, and Southwestern Ontario’s relentless freeze-thaw cycle. Eventually, even solid masonry can start showing its age. Cracked bricks, deteriorating mortar, loose masonry, or water around the chimney are all signs worth paying attention to.

Wolsey Masonry specializes in residential chimney repair and restoration, providing honest assessments and solutions designed to address the problem for the long term rather than patching over what you can see.

When the Mortar Goes, Water Finds a Way In

A chimney does more than rise above the roofline. When cracks and failing mortar allow water into the masonry, that moisture can eventually reach the attic, roof structure, and surrounding materials.

Chimney repointing removes deteriorated mortar and replaces it with new mortar to help restore strength and improve resistance to the elements. Wolsey Masonry also replaces damaged brick and restores deteriorating sections, addressing vulnerable areas before moisture has more opportunities to make itself at home.

Saving What Works, Rebuilding What Doesn’t

Not every damaged chimney needs to come down, and not every one can be saved with a small repair. Depending on its condition, Wolsey Masonry can repair, restore, partially rebuild, or completely rebuild a chimney. Signs of movement, leaning sections, extensive brick deterioration, and loose masonry are carefully assessed before recommendations are made.

Older and heritage homes require another layer of consideration. Original materials, construction methods, and the character of the chimney all matter when determining how repairs should be approached. The goal is to restore structural integrity and safety while preserving original masonry wherever appropriate.

Fireplaces Are Part of the Story Too

Wolsey Masonry also takes on fireplace masonry and is expanding into more custom fireplace construction and outdoor fireplace projects. It is an opportunity to combine functional masonry with a feature that brings warmth and character to a home or backyard.

For projects involving inspection requirements, Brandon, owner and operator of Wolsey Masonry, is currently working toward WETT certification and can help homeowners coordinate applicable inspection requirements. Not every chimney or fireplace project requires a WETT inspection, so the requirements can be discussed based on the work being planned.
